Engelberg is a great place for a relaxing vacation up in the mountains. Here are my recommendations on where to stay and what to do when visiting Engelberg, Switzerland.
Where To Stay
We stayed at the Grand Hostel & Bar in Engelberg. This was probably one of the nicest hostels I have stayed at. The rooms were very spacious and everything was clean and sanitized before our stay. Our room also had a gorgeous view of the Swiss alps. If hostels are not your vibe, there are also a lot of nice hotels located in the same area such as Bellevue-Terminus and Hotel Crystal.
What To Do
Engelberg is a quiet town with beautiful nature. There are biking and walking trails located along Engelbergeraa River and you will see many snails and slugs along the way. Lake Eugenisee is also worth checking out, the water is a bright blue and home to many fish. The downtown area also has shops, pubs, cafes, and restaurants.
Exploring Mount TITLIS
Mount Titlis is a beautiful mountain more than 10,000 feet above sea level. It is home to the world’s first revolving cable car that makes it very accessible. The cable car service is a very short walk away from any of the accommodations I listed in the “Where To Stay” section. You can purchase cable car tickets and day passes for the all of the activities on the mountain at the TITLIS Cableways gondola station.
The first cable car stop offers zip-lining, trampolines, and a bag jump. There is also a restaurant and gift shop. Feel free to hike around the area and explore beautiful Lake Trubsee, as well as pet some friendly cows.
Once you get to the very top of the mountain, you can explore the Swiss alps! There is a chair lift, cliff walk, glacier cave, chocolate shop, photo studio, and so much more! They offer snow-tubing all-year-round and if you go during the Winter they also offer snowboarding, skiing, and tobogganing. You can also stop at Panorama-Restaurant to get some incredible window views while you eat.
